Ramona C. Dellaventura, 90, a resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. She was born in Milton, Fl on August 4, 1928 to the late Charles R. and Mae Lewis Clay.
Ramona met her husband Michael S. Dellaventura, “Dell”, the love of her life, at the USO dances at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida. She was employed at Sonitrol for twenty five plus years before her retirement. Ramona was jokingly called the coupon queen by her family and was a donor for many years at the American Red Cross. She also enjoyed her many walks in Cove Park and the waves at the sandy beaches in Pensacola, Fl while visiting her family. Ramona loved the color purple and was known to many as “Grandma”. She will be sadly missed by her family.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Rita D. O’Neill of Monroe, her five loving grandchildren, Anna Marie Hadden and her husband Kevin of Greenwich, Lisa O’Neill-Grant of Darien, Dina Montague of Monroe, Richard O’Neill, Sr. of New Haven and Michael O’Neill and his wife Linda of Milford, as well as nine great grandchildren, Peter, Tyler, Lilah, Heather, Michael, Ryan, RJ, Dylan and Jaxson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ramona was predeceased by her husband Michael S. Dellaventura and a brother Charles A. Clay and a sister Mary Lou Costello.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM with a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
