Raymond Carrano

Raymond A. Carrano, 76, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Montifiore/New Rochelle Hospital. He was born in New Haven, CT on June 23, 1938 to the late Ralph and Mildred Carrano.
Raymond retired from Moran Towing Corp, where he worked as a Billing Supervisor/Dispatcher for nearly thirty years and also was an usher for many years at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church of Stamford. He was an avid reader and loved decorating his home for the Holidays, Ray also took great pride in his garden and waterfall that he created at his home. He was enlisted during Peace Time in the US Coast Guard from 1956-1960.
He is survived by his devoted wife Helaine“Rich”Carrano of Stamford, his loving children Janeen Savenelli and her husband Scott of Hamden, CT, Drew Carrano and his wife Jennifer of Hamden, CT, his step children, Donna Bamford and her husband Roy of Norwalk, Mark Rich and his wife Fran of Stamford. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Nicole, Jason, Morgan, Matthew and Angelina and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 PM.
