Richard Day, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2025. Born on August 10, 1981, in Brooklyn, New York, Richard later made his home in Stamford, where he resided until his passing.
Richard was the love of his partner Kelly Patrignelli’s life, and a man whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth to everyone around him. A talented chef by trade, he expressed his love through food, generosity, and care for others. He was a devoted stepfather to Hailey Zanesky and Cailyn Zanesky, who lovingly called him their stepdad. He cherished them deeply, and his love for them was evident in all that he did.
Richard was a proud and devoted pet parent to Max, his beloved dog whom he absolutely adored, and to Lucy and Lily, his cherished cats. His home was filled with love, loyalty, and companionship.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce; his brother, Ralph; his nieces, Marisa and Caitlyn; and his nephew, Jackson. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Day Sr.
Richard was a passionate sports fan who loved the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, and the Los Angeles Lakers. Known as a gentle giant, he had a smile that could light up a room and a heart big enough for everyone. He would do anything for anyone, asking for nothing in return, and because of that, he was deeply loved by many.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Richard's life and offer condolences to his family from 3pm to 6pm on Saturday, January 3rd at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, in Stamford.
Richard’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
