Richard Anthony Iuso, 79, of Stamford, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026. Richard was born on November 24, 1946 in Greenwich to the late Lawrence and Helen Iuso.

After attending Greenwich High School, he was drafted into the Army and served on the frontline in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart for his service after being shot in back while in the line of duty. After returning home from war, he joined the phone company, working for SNET for 25 years. He was also a member of the Darien VFW Post 6933 for many years. As a member of their drill team, he marched in local parades and competed in drill competitions across the country.

Aside from his children and grandchildren, his two biggest loves were cooking and art. He created many masterpieces both in the kitchen, and on his canvases. He also enjoyed taking art classes at the West Haven VA. He always looked forward to Sunday dinner with his family, and Wednesday breakfast with his longtime phone company friends.

Richard is survived by his wife, Diane Zboray Iuso, of Stamford, his daughters, Elissa Piazzaroli and her husband Michael, of Fairfield and Mia Quagliani of Fairfield, his sisters Barbara Polcer, of Beacon Falls, and Janet West and her husband Jim, of Stamford, as well as his five beloved grandchildren: Gianna, Antonio, Dante, Nadia and Enzo.
