Richard C. Murray, Sr.

Richard C. Murray, Sr., 95, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Stamford. Born November 5, 1913 in Portland, ME, he was the son of the late David and Martha Gorman Murray.
Richard was a machine shop foreman for Pitney Bowes for thirty-seven years until his retirement in 1976. He was also a member of the Pitney Bowes Foreman Club and Pitney Bowes Oval Club.
He is survived by three sons, David A. Murray and his wife Lynn of Norwalk; Richard C. Murray, Jr. and his wife Lucille of Stamford; and Peter W. Murray and his wife Melissa of Ridgefield. Eight grandchildren, Susan, Keith, Dana, Kristine, Scott, Todd, Robert and Jennifer; and four great-grandchildren, Sage, Griffin, Sydney and Emily also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Germaine Y. Murray; three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, (TODAY) Tuesday, February 10 from 4:00 7:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:20 AM on Wednesday, February 11 and proceed to St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery Mausoleum in Darien.
