Richard A. Scalise, 95, of Stamford passed away peacefully on January 7, 2015. Richard was born on April 3, 1919 in Greenwich, CT to the late Frank and Mary Roina Scalise.
Richard was president and founder of Dickmont Plastics Corp., and injection molding plant in Stamford in 1955. He was a member and past officer of the Society of Plastic Engineers and a member of the Society of Plastics Industry. He was certified and completed the study forum in plastics as recognized by the Executive & Technical Staff of the Plastics Industries Technical Institute in February of 1945. He held a degree from the plastics Institute of America and was a past president of the Stamford Foreman’s Club.
Richard was an avid golfer and a member of Sterling Farms Golf Club and E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Club and served on the Stamford Golf Authority. He was a member of the Italian Center and the Italian Center Men’s Club of Stamford.
Richard is survived by his son Donald Scalise of Fairfield, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his junior high school sweetheart and loving wife of 71 years, Doris G. Scalise, his son Richard Scalise daughter Elaine Twardy, his two brothers Frank and Anthony Scalise and his sister Grace Valentine.
A funeral service will be held at St. Cecilia RC Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford on Saturday January 17, 2015 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Cecilia’s RC Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905.
