Robert "Bob" Bryson Profile Photo

Bob was born and raised in Stamford, CT, where he met his wife Betty. They were married and had five children. Their first born son Matt's special needs were the impetus for Bob and Betty's involvement with the CT Special Olympics and advocacy for individuals with special needs. They spent decades supporting athletes, including Matt, in training and competition in the area of skiing and swimming. They organized and held training weekends at their home in Vermont, attended hundreds of Special Olympic events and at 90, Bob was still poolside coaching swimming.

Bob was a dedicated employee of Pitney Bowes for 42 years. During the early days of his employment from 1951-1953, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in artillery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He returned to Pitney Bowes after the Army and retired in 1988 at the age of 60. He and Betty spent many years traveling the world until Betty was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Bob demonstrated his deep devotion to Betty during the following decade, caring for her by visiting and feeding her daily

It was Bob's service in the Army that allowed Bob to continue in assisted living at Avery Heights in Hartford. He was able to access financial support and medical care through the Veterans Administration that extended his ability to live as independently as possible. We are so grateful for Max and Edgar for taking exceptional care of Bob at Avery Heights in Hartford and Atria in Stamford

Bob was born in Stamford, CT to Agnes and Matthew Bryson. He graduated from Stamford Public Schools and earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from University of Bridgeport. In addition to his wife, Bob was predeceased by his parents, his son Matthew and his brother Jim. He is survived by his son Drew Bryson and his wife Moira, daughters Ginny Misavage and her husband Dave, Ann Sullivan, Laura Bryson and son in law Sully. He was adored by his 7 grandchildren, Matt, Mary, P.J., Stephen, Harrison, Graham and Reid
