Robert C. “Gabe” DeLuca,87, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. He was born at his family home on 12 Corbo Terrace in Stamford on June 8, 1930 to the late Giuseppe and Adelina Greco DeLuca.
Gabe served in the U.S Air Force from 1951-1955. He was an Accountant by profession, Gabe served on the Stamford Board of Representatives from 1977 to the present for the 14th District. He was also Vice Chair of the Transportation Committee. His passion was serving the City of Stamford. Gabe also received citations and awards, including the House of Representatives General Assembly Citation May 19, 2012. He was a self appointed Social Director for the Board of Representatives annual Christmas Party and served as Coach for the Board of Representatives versus Mayor’s Office Annual Baseball Game. Gabe was also honored as the Grand Marshall for the Memorial Day Parade on May 25, 2014. Gabe was a Justice of the Peace for over thirty years. Gabe brought years of Christmas cheer to everyone around him from Thanksgiving to Christmas with his musical hats.
Gabe is survived by his devoted wife of sixty one years, Dorothy Conetta DeLuca of Stamford, his children, Marlene Bicchieri (Anthony) of Bermuda, Robert DeLuca (Anja) and Douglas DeLuca of Stamford, as well as his grandsons, whom he adored, Jesse and Marc DeLuca and their mother, Heidi McFadden DeLuca.
Besides his parents, Gabe was predeceased by his five brothers, Attilio, Joseph, Louis, James, Alexander “Babe” DeLuca and his seven sisters, Elizabeth DeLuca, Mollie Pastore,Helen Martello, Rose Pangallo, Angelina “Dolly” Margenot, Yolanda Casole and Delia Pellini.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Scared Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will be held privately.
