Robert Bernard Johnson, of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away on April 29, 2026, at the remarkable age of 91. Born in Queens, New York, in 1934, Bob lived a full and vibrant life marked by curiosity, creativity, and humor.
Bob earned his BA from Queens College and his MBA from Columbia University. He went on to build a varied and fascinating career. A true jack of many trades, he first worked as an actor in television and theater, appearing on Broadway with greats like Yum Brynner. He moved into the advertising industry, working at famous agency Serino Coyne and collaborating on projects with Mike Nichols. Bob helped create the campaign for the first “Annie” on Broadway, something he was always very proud of. In his later career, he studied to be a psychoanalyst and worked in marketing at Microsoft. No matter the role, Bob brought intelligence, wit, and personality to everything he did.
Known for his sharp sense of humor and quick mind, Bob approached life with energy and enthusiasm right up until the end. He was still going to the gym just days before his passing, continuing to live life fully and on his own terms.
Bob is survived by his sister, Marilyn Johnson; his son, Peter Johnson; his daughter, Eleanor Mastriano; and his two beloved granddaughters. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him
