Robert “Rusty” Lawrence White, 75, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Stamford on July 19, 1943 to the late Arthur and Selina Power White.
Rusty was in the first graduating class of Stamford Catholic High School, “1962”. He was a three letter athlete having played football, basketball and his first love, baseball. He was drafted and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, having served from 1965-1967, where he was a radio operator. While there, Rusty taught the village children how to play baseball, where he was known as “White #1”. Upon returning he made his career at Barnes Engineering of Stamford as a Production Control Manager for 38 years, before retiring. Rusty loved his family, especially watching his children play baseball. He also enjoyed fishing and vacationing in Cape Cod. Most of all, he enjoyed being at home on Frisbie Street.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret E. Mierzwinski White, his loving children, Matthew, Jeanne, Daniel and Michael White, all of Stamford, as well as several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his lap dog Cody.
Besides his parents, Rusty was also predeceased by his first wife, Donna DelVecchio White and his siblings, Arthur White, Anne O’Reilly, Richard White and Elizabeth White.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours.
