Rocco J. Santoro, Jr., “Uncle Babe” passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the age of 96.

Born in Stamford, Connecticut, on March 14, 1930, he was the son of the late Rocco J. Santoro, Sr., and Josephine Siciliano Arrico Santoro.

He worked for many years at Branson Instruments, where he proudly served as a shop steward. Outside of work, he enjoyed bartending at Pellicci’s after-hours parties, where his personality and love of bringing people together could truly shine.

Some of his happiest moments were spent right at home, cooking alongside his beloved wife in the kitchen and enjoying precious time with his family. He was an avid gardener who took pride in his garden, and he loved trying his luck at the casino. He was also a devoted and passionate Alabama Crimson Tide football fan who cheered for his team with all his heart. He especially loved dancing with Mom at weddings, creating wonderful memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. Even at 96 years old, he was still driving his car, making his trips to the cemetery and stopping at the store to play his beloved numbers. His independence, determination, and zest for life were a testament to his strong spirit.

Above all, he was a family man who treasured the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was working, gardening, cooking with his wife, cheering on Alabama, dancing at a wedding, or spending time with those he loved, he made memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his beloved children and their spouses: Christine Melfi (Damon), Lynette Petersen (Gary), Rocky Santoro (Kathy), Gloria Jean McGraw, Gerald Santoro (Lauren), Sharon Patane (Larry), William Santoro (Ann Marie), and Todd Santoro (Michelle).

He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a cherished part of his life.

Besides his parents Rocco was predeceased by his devoted wife Gloria June Crosta Santoro. He was also predeceased by his siblings: Frank Eugenio Santoro, Rose Arrico Remson, Charles Arrico, Gus Arrico, and Julie Arrico Malwitz.
