Rocco Zappia, Sr.

Rocco Zappia, Sr., 70, of Stamford, passed away on October 25, 2014 in Bianco, Italy. Rocco was born in Cirella, Italy on August 18, 1944 to the late Giuseppe and Rosa Caruso Zappia.
Rocco was a retired employee of Wendon Corporation of Stamford. He also owned his own landscaping and real estate businesses during his career.
Rocco is survived by his four children including his two loving daughters, Elisabetta “Lisa” Jones and her husband Chris, of Somers, NY, Rosa Taulty and her husband William “Bill”, of West Haven, CT, two loving sons, Giuseppe Zappia, of Norwalk and Rocco Zappia, Jr. and his wife Brigid of Stamford, CT. He is also survived by his great aunt Desiderata “Daisy” Agostino of Greenwich, CT his brother Carlo Zappia and his wife Fernanda of Pawling, NY and his sister Maria DiMarzio of Montreal, Canada. Rocco’s most important legacy is his beloved grandchildren Shane and Kaylee Taulty, Alexis and Andrew Jones and Alison Zappia. In addition to his parents, Rocco is predeceased by his parents and his loving wife of 41 years Maria Angela Zappia who passed in 2010.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Wednesday November 5, 2014 at 9:45AM and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30AM. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum at Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday November 4, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
