Ronald D. (Ronnie) Taranto, 71, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Stamford on May 31, 1944 to the late Roger P. and Josephine Perella Taranto.
Ron owned the Brass Rail Restaurant, Delite Caterers and catered for the Laurel Athletic Club of Norwalk for many years. In addition, he operated the Moosehead Restaurant and Taranto’s Restaurant with his parents and brothers. Ron was a veteran of the Vietnam War in the US Army from 1965-1967. He was quick witted, full of life, and always had a story and a smile for everyone, “You can’t plan a good time, it just happens.”
Ron is survived by his loving children, R. Zach Taranto of Stamford, Lauren Taranto of Stamford, Michelle Taranto-Qualls and her husband Ted Qualls of FL, a grandson Tyler Qualls, and his forever friend, Babe, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, near and far.
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brothers Roger N. Taranto, Richard A. Taranto and his sister-in-law Maureen “Reenie” O’Neill Taranto.
A Graveside Service with full Military Honors will be held for both Ronald and his brother Roger Taranto on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s RC Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life immediately following the service.
