Rosa Progano

Rosa Progano,82, of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 28, 2016. She was born in Girifalco, Italy on May 14, 1933 to the late Servio and Rosa Pirrio DeFilippo.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, laughing and loved to sing at every family gathering. Rosa will always be remembered as a true friend and confidant to her family and all who knew her.
Rosa is survived by her loving sons, Rocky S. Progano and his wife Sandy and John S. Progano, all of Stamford, her loving daughter Roseann Fogarty and her husband William J. III of Barnstable, MA, six grandchildren, Rocky S. Progano II and his wife Ashley, Christopher J. Progano, Mark J. Progano, William J. Fogarty IV, Brian C. Fogarty and Kassie Marie Progano, as well as her devoted sister Carmina LaCapruccia and beautiful nieces Maria Manna, Anna and Teresa.
Besides her parents, Rosa was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Salvatore Progano in 2010 and eight siblings.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, February 1, 2016 a 9:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church, 1 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford at 10:00. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 3:00 -7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rosa’s memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492
