Rose Bartholomew
July 20, 1917 — December 13, 2009
Rose Josephine Bartholomew, 92, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on December, 13, 2009 with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Sal Bartholomew to whom she married 64 years before his passing in 2005.
Born in Darien, CT on July 20, 1917 to the late Frank and Phyllis LaPolla, she lived in New Canaan until 1941 when she married Sal and moved to Stamford where she has resided ever since.
She was a home maker where her family enjoyed her delicious cooking and baking. She enjoyed knitting Afghans and sweaters for her family and friends. An avid reader, she loved her crossword puzzles and travel. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Murphy and her husband William; granddaughter Suzanne Gallicano and her husband John; grandson, Shawn Murphy and his wife Julie; six great grandchildren, Shawna Murphy, Nicholas Gallicano, Michael Murphy, Shelby Gallicano, Michelle Murphy and Dakota Gallicano; three sisters, Anne Pradella of Rome Italy, Jean Cerbini of Norwalk, Diane Johnson and her husband, Robert of Mystic. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Sadie Scaglia, Mary Gaeta; one brother, Joseph LaPolla.
The Family would like to thank the nurses on the fourth floor cardiac in Stamford Hospital for their kind and loving compassion shown to Rose. Also to Dr. Michael Zucker and his staff for the wonderful care she was given.
A procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902, on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 9:35AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel Church, 914 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905 at 10:00AM. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan, CT 06840. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 5:00-8:00PM.
