Rose Bitetto

Rose Parrella Bitetto, a longtime Stamford resident, died on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at her home in Parkland, FL. She was 91. Born February 5, 1918 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Josephine Adelardi Parrella.
Mrs. Bitetto lived in Stamford until the early 80’s when she moved to Boynton Beach, FL. Several years ago she moved with her daughter to Parkland,FL. She was a homemaker who loved knitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughters, Arlene Mercede and her husband Frank of New Canaan; Josephine Socci and her husband Phil of Stamford; Frances Mercede and her husband Sky of Parkland, FL; twelve grandchildren: Joanne Grasso, Frank Mercede, III, Carolyn Matera & Gregg Mercede, and Ann Gehnrich, Rose Socci, Joe Socci, Laura Ferm, & Philip Socci, Jr., and Kristen DelGrecco, Sky Mercede, II, & Michelle Mercede; and fifteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Bitetto, in 2003; two brothers, Alfred and Frank Parrella; five sisters: Mary Robertucci, Minnie Horvath, Frances Macari, Josephine Campana and Stella Parrella.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Thursday, September 17 from 4:00 �" 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:10 AM on Friday, September 18 and proceed to St. Leo Parish, Roxbury Road, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to Richard Rosenthal Hospice Residence, 34 Shelburne Road, Stamford, CT 06904.
