Rose Mary Conetta, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the age of 100. Rose was born on September 17, 1918, daughter of the late Thomas and Whilemina DelGiorno Alfano.
Born in NYC Rose was a lifelong resident of Stamford. After raising four children Rose returned to work at the J.M. Wright Technical School and later the Stamford Public Schools. She was a charter member of the Roxbury Swim and Tennis Club and took up the game of tennis in her 50s. Rose became an avid player twice qualifying for the Senior Olympics.
Rose is survived by her four loving children, her son Donald and his wife Kelly of MA., her daughters Barbara Miller of Stamford, Carole Conetta of Norwalk, and Lisa Socci and her husband Nicholas of Stamford. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents Rose is predeceased by her beloved husband Dominick S. Conetta, a grandson David Z. Conetta, her two sisters Mary Ficera and Eleanor Alfano and a brother Andrew Alfano.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2:00-6:00 PM.
