Rose Giancola, 87, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Born on March 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Pimbell Ottanio.
Rose was an avid New York Yankee fan. She was a former member of The Children of Mary of Sacred Heart RC Church, as well as a member of Sacred Heart RC Church. Rose was the Matriarch of the family. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
Rose is survived by two daughters, Karen A. & her husband Michael Piacenza of Stamford and Ann C. & her husband Louis Servideo of Milford; two sons, Nicholas L. & his wife Nancy Giancola, Jr. of Stamford and Jon Giancola of Stamford; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Nicholas L. Giancola, Sr.; her sister, Ann Lamberti; her brother, Lawrence Ottanio; her son, Paul Giancola; and her granddaughter, Jennifer M. Tomasello.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Inga Tuluca, for her kindness and compassion, as well as her long term care for Rose.

A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:50 AM on Saturday, February 21 and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.www.cognetta.com
