Rose Mancusi Leonowitz
September 21, 1914 — June 14, 2009
Rose Lena Mancusi Leonowitz, 94, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2009. Born on September 21, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Loreto and Paola Vento Lazzaro.
She was involved with the ARI Mother’s Auxiliary, the Minturnese Women’s Club through the 1950’s. Rose was employed by the Stamford Board of Education Food Services for many years, as well as Flossie’s Dress Shop.
Rose is survived by her son, Joseph Mancusi of Stamford; her daughter, Angela Christofor of Norwalk; a sister, Josephine Ganino of Stamford; two grandchildren, Steven and Alexandra; two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Isabel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Anthony Mancusi; her second husband John Leonowitz; her son Anthony Mancusi; five sisters, Thomasina Radicio, Mary Farrall, Augusta Masone, Mildred Caraszi, and Antoinette Mogielnicki; and three brothers, Augustus, Loreto (Jack), and Carmine Lazzaro.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, June 19 from 9:00 �" 10:00 AM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 19 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
