Rose Josephine Mosca of Stamford died peacefully on October 22, 2009 at Smith House Skilled Health Care facility. Born in Stamford, Connecticut on April 10, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Filippina (Epifanio) Lasalandra, the loving wife of her husband of 42 years, the late Dominick J. Mosca, and sister of the late Michael Lasalandra. She was a lifelong resident of Stamford.
Rose was a graduate of Stamford High School and was employed in the Selectman’s office, town of Stamford before her marriage, and returned to work after her children were grown, working at J.M. Wright Technical School in Stamford.
Throughout her life, Rose was a selfless, loving presence and support in the lives of her mother, husband and children, taking care of her mother in her later years and devoting herself as a loving companion and caregiver to her husband throughout his long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was also a wonderful mother who instilled by example the values of hard work, honesty, loyalty and compassion.
She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews.
She leaves her beloved children: daughter, Joann Engel of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania; daughter, Marilyn Boisseau and her husband Mark of Wethersfield, Connecticut; son, Mark Mosca and his wife Joanne of Bedford, New York; and daughter, Patricia Lecouras of Stamford, Connecticut. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Antoinette and William Christino of New Hampshire; and sister-in-law, Grace Lasalandra of Stamford.
She was a proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Kimberly Engel; Tricia Willis; Charles Lecouras; Elizabeth Lecouras; Peter Mosca; William Mosca; and David Boisseau. She also took great joy in her great-grandchild Mackenzie Willis.
The Mosca family wishes to thank the staff at Brighton Gardens, Stamford; the staff at Smith House; and especially the thoughtful and compassionate companionship of Rose Palmero.
