Rose B. Pirie, 90, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital. She was born on August 24, 1924 in New York, NY.
Rose worked for more than 30 years at AT&T and Southern New England Telephone Company. She was a dedicated mom and grandmother to her family and friends, and was an avid knitter who created beautiful clothing sets for the newborns. Rose was an outdoor and exercise enthusiast who enjoyed her visits to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center and walks at Cove Island. As a neighbor to the Tully Center she took advantage of their fitness facilities on a daily basis.
Rose is survived by her children, Karilyn Brown and her husband, Walter of Stamford, Laraine Pirie and her partner, John Frangione of Riverside, Arlene Alter of Stamford, and Janet Pirie of York, SC; her sister, Margaret Hoffman of Syosset, New York; her grandchildren, Scott (Roseann) Brown, Kenn (Camey) Brown, Debra Ann Scuderi and Allison Alter; her great-grandchildren, Michael Brown, Heather Scuderi, Mackenzie Brown, Jonathan Scuderi, Sydney Brown and several nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her husband, George Pirie and her son, Douglas Pirie.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM. A memorial service will take place at the funeral home at 12:00PM. Interment will be private.
