RoseMarie �"RoRo Catherine Carlucci, beloved sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 15, 2007. RoseMarie was a teacher and coach in Stamford for 35 years, retiring in June 2006. She was born in Greenwich, CT on November 10, 1949.
RoseMarie graduated with top honors from Stamford Catholic High School where she was a student athlete. She went on to attend Dayton University, graduating in 1971, where she obtained a Bachelors degree of Science. She obtained her Masters from Southern Connecticut State University in Health Education. She was named the CHSCA Outstanding Gymnastics Coach in 1982. She coached numerous national gymnastics teams, Chicago in 1982, Nebraska in 1990, Michigan in 1993, and Connecticut in 1994. She coached the national team again in Boston in 1996 and judged high school nationals in 1993 and 2000. Westhills gymnastics team met with great success under Ros coaching, winning the FCIAC Western Division in 1981, FCIAC Runner-up in 1993, CIAC �"L Runner-up in 1997 and FCIAC Runner-up the same year. In 1998, Westhill won the FCIAC Championship and �"L Runner-up, then again in 2002 FCIAC Runner-up and in 2004 CIAC �"L Runner-up in girls tennis. In 1992 Ro was announced High School Coach of the Year and then again in 2003. She was a member of the National Association of Womens Gymnastics Judges for 30 years, and as a Level 10 judge, judging local high school, club, state and regional meets. Ro won the Connecticut gymnastics coaches outstanding contributor award. She also was selected into the FCIAC Hall of Fame in June 2005. She has been chairperson of FCIAC Board off Directors where she was presently serving as 2nd Vice President. RoseMarie was a proud breast cancer survivor who recently began a second career as an artist, and her work is being exhibited at the Bartlett Arboretum.
RoseMarie is survived by her sisters, Maria Carlucci (Patrick McLaughlin) of Stamford; and AnneMarie Willcox (James) of Berwyn, PA; her brothers, Domenic Carlucci (Wendy) of Southlake, TX; and Victor Carlucci (Alice) of Brick, NJ; along with her former sister-in-law Patricia Carlucci. She was the devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews, Melissa, Domenic, Brooke, Sarah, Meagan, Brian, Jennifer, Ryan, Taylor, and Madison. Her many Godchildren and cousins and their children also survive.
She was predeceased by her mother, RoseMarie Cosentini Carlucci; and her father, Victor A. Carlucci, Jr.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Friday, April 20, 2007 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at St. Gabriel Parish, 914 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Darien.
