Sadie Caporizzo
August 15, 1913 — January 1, 2009
Sadie Caporizzo, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at St. Camillus Health Care Center. Born August 15, 1913 in the North Mianus section of Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Immaculata Lupo Altomaro.
Sadie was an assembler for Artistic Ribbon Factory. After retirement, she became a school crossing guard for many years. She was educated in the Greenwich School Systems.
She is survived by her daughter, Carole A. Mancini of Stamford; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Philip J. Caporizzo; and her son-in-law, Louis A. Mancini; five sisters: Nancy Santoro, Rose Montalto, Mary Zacarolo, Stella DeFelice and Ann Lione; and four brothers, George, Frank, Salvatore and Arthur Altomaro; a nephew, Michael F. Lione, Jr.; and a niece, Roseann Lione.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Sunday, January 4 from 3:00 5:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 5 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joseph Malloy officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich.
