Sally Elaine Reffner (Messner), beloved wife of 50 years to John A. Reffner of Stamford, CT passed away at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital after an extended illness. Born on January 9, 1938 in Akron, Ohio, she lived in Bolder, Colorado; Chicago, Illinois; and Storrs Connecticut, before moving to Stamford over 30 years ago. Sally attended college at the University of CT where she received her Phi Beta Kappa Key and was a lifelong enthusiast of reading and education. She was an active member of the Halloween Yacht Club and the Catboat Association.

Sally is survived by her husband, John; and her two loving children, John Richard (Brenda) Reffner; and Elaine Marie (John) Teeters. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert (Cathy) Messner; and Duane (Barbara) Messner; and she is predeceased by her brother, Richard (Carol) Messner; and her two sisters-in-law, Ruth (John) Gill; and Dorothy Charno. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Drake, Margo and Charlie Teeters; and Cassy and Derek Reffner. Sally will be remembered by all her family for her love, compassion and generosity. She will be deeply missed by her family and numerous friends.

The family will be greeting friends and family at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, November 10th from 4:00 – 5:30 pm followed by a memorial service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
