Salvatore Guarna

Salvatore M. Guarna, 76, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Arena, Italy on July 15, 1937 to the late Salvatore and Marianna Iorfino Guarna.
Salvatore was a self employed painting contractor for many years before his retirement. He was a hard working man, a good friend, and a loving dedicated father and grandfather.
He is survived by his devoted wife Caterina Agostino Guarna of Stamford, his loving daughters, Dr. Anna Guarna and her husband Vito Quivelli of Stamford, Rose Tallo and her husband Joe of Shelton, a sister Michelle Iorfino of Shelton, four grandchildren, Tyler, Christian, Alexander and Tessa, a nephew Andrea Schinella of Arena, Italy,and several other nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Salvatore was predeceased by his brothers Michele, Angelo, Nazzareno Guarna and a sister Maria Guarna.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Entombment will be privately held for the family. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Salvatore’s memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852
