Sandra Viesto

Sandra Viesto, 63 of Stamford, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on February 20, 1947 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Wahnowsky Carta.
Sandra was a teacher’s aid for special education children at Dolan Middle School for 20 years.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Alan W. Viesto of Stamford; her two daughters, Karie A. Viesto, of Stamford and Melissa S. Acevedo and her husband Juscelino of Norwalk; and five grandchildren, Kevin Dawkins, Jaden Dawkins, Avery Cromwell, Cory Acevedo and Amaya Acevedo.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 11:00AM for a funeral service to be held at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary’s Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church, 141 Den Road, Stamford, CT 06903 with the very Rev. Vladimir Horoschak, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, June 28, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 with a Parastas service to be held at 7:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Sandra’s name to the St. Mary’s Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church, 141 Den Road, Stamford, CT 06903.
