Sanjay Makwana, 50, of Stamford passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India on September 7, 1968 to Dinesh and Suraj Parmar Makwana.
Sanjay was a beloved Son, an extraordinary Father, loving Brother, and heartfelt companion. He had a family-first ethos that bound his family and friends together through various life events and moments. Sanjay was a lover of many cultures and appreciated the finer points of the world. He had a passion for the cinema and was a Bollywood aficionado.
Sanjay began his career at the age of 16 at Bongiorno’s Supermarket working his way up to manager. He took those skills and started his own business specializing and focusing on the growing Indian community of Stamford opening one of the first Indian specialty markets in Fairfield county. He also had a passion for real estate investing.
A true romantic, he loved sunrises and sunsets and the beauty of nature. Sanjay was a very giving person, quick with a joke and brought the best out of people while lighting up the room with his smile. He respected other people’s beliefs while not imposing his own. Sanjay also had very strong ties and was well respected in the Stamford community
Besides his parents, he is also survived by his Sons, Sunny and Sunil Makwana, both of Stamford, an older brother David Yeshua and his wife Christine of Stamford, five sisters, Ramila Vaghela and her husband Naran of Derby, Gita Mehta and her husband Nailesh of Oxford, Anne Kulick and her husband Christopher of Stamford, Rachel Guerra and her husband Mark of Woodbridge and Jennifer Placzek and her husband Greg of Massachusetts, as well as his his fiancé Sandra Rodriguez and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM with a Hindu service to follow at 12:00 PM. Interment is private.
