Sarah Gerardi

Sarah M. Gerardi, 91, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2009. Born on August 8, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mariangela Ganino Tarzia.
Sarah is survived by three sons, William J. Gerardi, Jr. and his wife Rita; Michael J. Gerardi both of Stamford; and Bart D. Gerardi and his wife Judy of Cape Cod, MA; a daughter, Diana Wilmink and her husband Richard of Shelton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William J. Gerardi, Sr.; three sisters, Margaret Carriero, Rose Tucci and Connie Laureno; and two brothers, Michael and Nicolo Tarzia.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Monday, August 31 from 4:00 �" 8:00 PM.
A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:10 AM, on Tuesday, September 1 and proceed to St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Building, Memphis, TN, 38105.
