Sera DeLeo, 92, passed away June 12 at Stamford Hospital. A former Greenwich resident, she had lived in Stamford for 20 years. Sera was born March 15, 1919 in New York City, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Cassano.
She was the loving and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends and their families.
Sera is survived by her children Patricia Everett of Amesbury, MA; Frank and Patti DeLeo of Stamford; and JoAnn and Ken Kjep of Sherman; her grandchildren Donna Ellis, Debra Ludwig, David Hill, Steven and Marc French, Scott DeLeo, Alison Miceli, and Lauren Haley; and fourteen great-children. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years, Augustine DeLeo; a daughter, Mary Ann Ellis; and her brothers Dominic and Paul Cassano.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 9:45 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
