Serafina “Sam” Procaccini, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Cassena Care in Norwalk, CT with his loving family by his side. He was born in Stamford on June 20, 1920 to the late Antonio and Maria DeRosa Procaccini.
Sam and his twin brother Frank, grew up in Darien, CT during the Great Depression Era. He later worked at Electrolux in Old Greenwich, where he built a long and successful career of forty years, until his retirement in 1988.
In 1948, he married the true love of his life, Virginia “Jean” Tedesco. Over their forty four years together, they enjoyed many family gatherings and vacations and shared a love of the New York Yankees, frequently traveling to Spring Training to watch their beloved team. As they built a life and family together, Sam never wavered in his respect and desire for hard work and especially loved working outdoors. Over the years and continuing long after his retirement, he worked maintaining two Greenwich estates and had a scrap metal recycling business. Whether you knew him as Seri, Sam, Jack or Poppy, he was loved by all. In his later years, Sam was able to stay in his own home with the loving help and companionship of his grandson Jeff Procaccini and his wife Loren.
