Serafino Serpe, 77, of Stamford, CT and Greensboro, NC, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2008 at Greenwich Hospital. Born April 18, 1931 in San File, Italy, he was the son of the late Eugenio and Concetta Aiello Serpe.

Serafino was the co-owner of Glenbrook Wines and Liquor, with his brother Joseph, until his retirement. He spent his time between his home in Greensboro, NC and his home in Stamford. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he enjoyed reading, writing and was an avid soccer fan. He was held in high esteem by his friends for his active participation as a mentor teaching English to those who came from Italy. Before coming to the U.S. he was a High School teacher in Italy. His family honored him and his father by having his name inscribed on the wall at Ellis Island.

He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Romana A. DiDemetrio Serpe; three sons, Eugene and his wife Mary Serpe of Greensboro, NC; Franco and his wife Stella Serpe of Stamford; and Alex Serpe of Stamford; three brothers, Joseph and his wife Mary Serpe of Greensboro, NC; Carmelo and his wife Carmela Serpe of Stamford; and David and his wife Anna Serpe of Stamford; five grandchildren, Michelle, Adrian, Julian, Alexandra and Lorena; and a great-grandson, Isaiah.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, June 5 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday, June 6 and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be held at the Westminster Gardens Cemetery and Crematory, 3601 White Hurst Road, Greensboro, NC on Tuesday, June 10 at 12:00 noon.
