Sheila Mary Conway, 85, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2006 at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford. Born December 2, 1920 in Granard, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen Dunne Maguire.
Sheila was a sales clerk for Wanamakers Department Store in Yonkers for four years, retiring in 1971. Her hobbies included painting and sewing. She was a member of the Rockaway Artist Alliance and her work was shown at the Rockaway Artist Alliance Gallery. She enjoyed painting Irish scenes.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Susan E. Dockery of Stamford; and Heather L. Tracy of GA; a great-granddaughter, Sophia J. Dockery of Stamford; a step-son, Patrick Conway of Newberg, NY; two sisters, Veronica Morrissey of Ireland; and Monica McCullough of Ohio; and two brothers, John and Andy Maguire, both of Ireland.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Matthew Conway; a son, Brian Clerkin; a daughter, Isabel Tracy; a brother, Brian Maguire; and a sister, Josephine ODonnell.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue Stamford, at 9:20 AM on Friday, October 27, 2006 and proceed to St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery, Southampton, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 PM.
