Stefano Pirolozzi, age 75, a long-time Stamford resident, passed away at home peacefully on Wednesday September 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 29, 1938 in Minturno, Italy to the late Salvatore and Alessandra Rotelli Pirolozzi. Through hard work and dedication Stefano built a very successful landscaping business and also worked at Pitney Bowes until his retirement in 1994.
Stefano was a member of the Minturnese Social Club where he was able to maintain his passion of his Italian heritage and spent many nights there socializing with his closest friends. Stefano was a kind and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. Stefano cherished the time spent with his family and friends and was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. He will be truly missed by everyone.
Stefano is survived by his two daughters, Maria Gentile and her husband Richard and Sandra Spadaccini and her husband Dino. He is also survived by his sister Teresa Pirolozzi and brother Antonio Pirolozzi in Minturno, Italy as well as many nieces and nephews in Italy and his nephew Vittorio Pirolozzi and his wife Teresa of Stamford, CT. Stefano also cherished all of his grandchildren, Linda and Dina Spadaccini and Anthony, Stefani, Rachel and Laci Gentile.
Besides his parents, Stefano is predeceased by his beloved son Salvatore Pirolozzi on October 7, 2012, his brothers Pietro and Leonardo Pirolozzi and his sisters Nina and Maria Pirolozzi from Italy.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Saturday September 27, 2014 at 8:40AM and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30AM. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum at St. Mary’s/Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday September 26, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
