Suzanne Depreta
August 14, 1941 — December 13, 2015
Suzanne M. DePreta, 74, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away on Sunday December 13, 2015 surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with lung cancer. Suzanne was born in Stamford on August 14, 1941 to the late Nicholas E. and Susanne Evaristo DePreta.
Suzanne began her career as the secretary to the principal at Burdick Middle School. She moved on to ITT Rayonier where she was a facility manager. Suzanne worked as an office manager at Stolt Nielsen and then at Charkit Chemical of Norwalk, from which she retired in 2014. She was an avid reader and knitter, who volunteered for many years at the Aid for the Retarded in Stamford and for Special Olympics.
Suzanne is survived by her sister Marlene Rybnick, of Stamford, her two nieces; Renee Terbrusch and her husband Walter of Ridgefield and Michele Karpowich and her husband John of Trumbull, and four great nieces and nephews; Tyler, Zachary, Amanda and Alison and several aunts, cousins and many friends.
She was predeceased by her father in 1986, and her mother Susanne DePreta only this past November 27th.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday January 2, 2016 at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist RC Church, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien, CT. There will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the DePreta family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
