Temilda Grandas
February 14, 1924 — September 9, 2010
Temilda Diaz De Grandas, 86, of Stamford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on February 14, 1924 in Colombia, she was the daughter of the late Martiniano and Evangelina Ardila Diaz.
Temilda was known as a woman and entrepreneur, but most importantly as an outstanding mother and faithful wife, always proving to be an excellent compliment to her husband, Carlos. She was her family’s strength and never believed anything was impossible or too far to reach. She was a strong influence to her family, always encouraging them to achieve all of their goals in life. One of her greatest joys was nurturing her family, especially by cooking wonderful meals for them to enjoy.
Temilda is survived by her four daughters, Gladys Pardo and her husband John of Old Greenwich, Aida Grandas of Bogota, Colombia, Dolly Grandas and Luz Grandas, both of Stamford; three sons, Dr. Carlos H. Grandas of New York, Dr. Fernando Grandas of Illinois and Yesid Grandas of Stamford; one sister, Bertha Diaz of Bogota, Colombia; eight grandchildren, Sandra Pardo, Dolly Nunez, Tatiana Pardo, Jennifer Pardo, Carlos Y. Grandas, Yeimy Grandas, Catherine Quintero and Cheryl Quintero; and three great grandchildren, Juanita, Michel and Miguel Angel.
In addition to her parents, Temilda was predeceased by her husband Carlos J. Grandas in 2009.
A Funeral Procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 10:00AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30AM at St. Benedict/Our Lady of Montserrat Church, 1 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford, CT 06902. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment will be private.
