Teresa Maria Lombardo, 82, of Stamford entered into eternal rest on October 17, 2014. Teresa was born in Bivongi, Prov. of Reggio Calabria, Italy on March 1, 1932, daughter of the late Antonio and Andreina Russo Princi.
Teresa was a resident of Stamford for 56 years and was the devoted wife of the late Giovanni Lombardo for 38 years. Teresa was employed at Bloomingdales for over 20 years. As a very talented seamstress, she loved to make and sew beautiful items especially for all her grandchildren, loved to cook, especially her famous meatballs. She will be treasured as a sweet, simple, funny and loving woman who always put her family first.
She will be missed by so many, especially her four children, Francesca Lombardo Riggio and her husband Tonino in Bari, Italy, her daughter Andreina Mailhot and husband Ed of Stamford, her son Peter Lombardo and wife Guisela of Stamford and daughter Antoniette (Toni) Pensiero and husband Henry of Shelton, her thirteen grandchildren; Elisa Riggio and partner Claudio Massafra, Maria Rosaria Riggio and partner Daniele Quaranta and Maria Teresa Riggio Palmisano and husband Giovanni of Italy, Lauren Moore and her husband Bruce, Eddie Mailhot Jr., John, Matthew, Luke, Mark, Daniel and Grace Lombardo of Stamford and Thomas and Jaclyn Pensiero of Shelton and three great grandchildren Alessandro and Domenico of Italy and Giavanna of Stamford. She is also survived by her brother Vincenzo and his wife Maria in Argentina, sister-in-law Teresa Lombardo Bova, brother-in-law Giuseppe Lombardo and his wife Giovanna as well as several loving nieces and nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband, Teresa was predeceased by her brothers Giuseppe and Armando Princi.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Monday October 20, 2014 at 9:10AM and proceed to St. Cecilia’s RC Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday October 19, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
