Theodore Martino, 83, of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He was born in Stamford on August 27, 1929 to the late Gene and Mary DePrisco Martino.
He was a retired mail carrier with the US Postal Service and was a former co-owner of Springdale Laundry of Stamford. He was a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, also a graduate of Stamford High Class, Class of 1947 and was a talented saxophone player in his younger years in various Stamford and New York Clubs.
Theodore is survived by his loving sons Gene Martino and his wife Cora of Stamford, Kenneth T. Martino and his wife Enza of Monroe, CT and his loving daughter Maryann Matheny and her husband Mike of So. Carolina, six grandchildren Jennifer, Erica, Melissa and Matthew Martino, Kyle and Lauren Matheny.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ann M. Zaccagnino Martino.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 9:20 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, May 20, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
