Titina Liverakos, 94, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Friday, May 13, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Titina was born in New York City on June 5, 1921 to the late George and Antonia (Kereakakos) Liverakos, Greek immigrants who settled in NYC. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Mary Vrouletis (George), Stella Cocolis (John), Patricia Plagianos (Thomas), and Catherine Lecouras (Charles). She is survived by her devoted nieces and nephews, Margaret Lecouras Fornaciari (Stephen), Keula Cocolis, Godson, John Cocolis, Stephanie Cocolis Odle (Eric), and many other nieces and nephews.
She worked for New York Graphic Society in NYC and Greenwich and returned when it was part of Time, Inc. as assistant to the President. Before returning to NYGS, she worked in NYC for William E. Hill & Co., management consultants, as Controller and Corporate Secretary. She ended her career as assistant to Helen Maguire Muller, a philanthropist.
She was a dedicated member of the Church of the Archangels, a past President of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and New York State past District Governor of the Daughters of Penelope, an auxiliary of the American Hellenic Educational and Progressive Association. Her many hours of volunteer work included Meals on Wheels and friendly visits to seniors.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the Liverakos family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Titina's name to the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT 06905.
