Victor G. Portanova

Victor G. Portanova, 71, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Stamford Hospital. Born September 3, 1935 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Ralph and Vincenza Tangi Portanova.
Victor was a Manager at Pitney Bowes for thirty-eight years before his retirement in 1997. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Lafayette Council #41 and the Pitney Bowes Oval Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Maria Manfredi Portanova of Stamford; four sons, Victor Portanova, Jr. of Stamford; Leonard Portanova of Stamford; John P. Portanova and his wife Michele of Port Orange, FL; and Donald Portanova and his fiancé Valerie Lynn Malta of Stamford; a sister, Mary Golino of Stamford; a brother, Anthony Portanova and his wife Carmella of Stamford; a granddaughter, Christine Portanova; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters, Palma Mammone; Jane Bova; Carmella Cleri; and Antoinette Sepe; and three brothers, Joseph, Ralph and Leonard Portanova.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:20 AM on Thursday, April 26, 2007 and proceed to Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow St. Johns Mausoleum in Darien.
