Victoria A. Tassitano, 84, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Stamford Hospital. Born December 23, 1923 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosa Monda Cortese.

Victoria is survived by a daughter, Dolores Spoto of Stamford; a son, Joseph F. Tassitano and his wife, Nancy of Weston; a brother, Samuel Cortese of Danbury; a sister, Antoinette Catino and her husband Carmine of Danbury. Seven grandchildren, Frank Spoto, III and his wife Lisa; John Spoto; Joe Spoto and his wife Nikki; Victoria Barcello and her husband Chris; Sara Kestlinger; Hunter Tassitano; and Justine Tassitano; and five great grandchildren, Frankie IV, Emily, John and Sophie Spoto, and Jenna Ros Barcello also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John H. Tassitano; two brothers, Joseph and Salvatore Cortese; and a sister, Louise Conetta.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Tuesday, July 22 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Wednesday, July 23 and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery in Darien.
