Vincent J. Mitchell, Jr., 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Tandet Health Care Center in Stamford. Born May 1, 1921 in Stamford, he was born to the late Vincent J. Sr. and Grace Hatfield Mitchell.
Vincent was a retired Projectionist and Stage Hand, having started his career at the Palace Theatre in Stamford, and finishing his career at the Darien Dinner Theatre. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the US Army, serving in the European Theater of War being awarded a Bronze Star in General George S. Pattons 3rd Army, 91st Infantry Division, 712 Tank Battalion. He was also a member of Local 449 IATSE.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann M. Kilian Mitchell; a daughter, Laura A. Considine and her husband, Kenneth of Stamford; two sons, Robert J. Mitchell and his wife, Susan, of Danbury; and George F. Mitchell; a sister, Roberta Davies of Sherman, CT; and a brother, Joseph Mitchell of New Canaan. Five grandchildren, Dana, Rachele, Amanda, Carine and Taylor also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Lillian Schaumburg; and Lucille De Luca.
Service and interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, is handling the arrangements.
