Vincenza Vinnie (Dolly) Labella

Vincenza �"Vinnie (Dolly) LaBella, 88, passed away on June 2, 2008 at Griffin Hospital Hospice. Born January 31, 1920 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Catherine Murace Lombardo.
Vinnie was a retired food service worker for G.T.E. and James River Corporation. She was a lifelong resident of Stamford and a member of the �"Over Sixty Club and St. Marys Senior Group.
She is survived by her daughter, Pat Tortora and her husband Canio of Monroe; three grandsons, Kenneth A. Tortora and his wife Nicole of Monroe; Stephen R. Tortora and his wife Leah of Stratford; Michael A. LaBella, III; and Mark LaBella of Milford; and a beloved sister-in-law, Stella Lombardo and her family. Three great-grandchildren, Angela M. LaBella; Olivia R. Tortora; and Alaina G. Tortora; and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Griffin Hospital Hospice, the home health care staff Lyneshia and Barbara, and Msgr. John Sabia and Rev. Skip Karcsinski of St. Judes Church in Monroe, CT.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Michael A. LaBella, Jr.; her husband, Michael A. LaBella, Sr.; two brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon at St. Marys RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford on Saturday, June 7. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made in her name to Griffin Hospital, Hospice Program, 130 Division Street, Derby, CT 06418, or to St. Marys RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT 06902.
