Virginia D. “Ginny” Raiteri, 78, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2013. Virginia was born November 21, 1934 to the late John and Eva Totillas Booth. Ginny worked as a secretary for New York Life and was a co-owner with Stephen Raiteri of Paper Palace/Penn drug Luncheonette of Stamford for more than twenty five years and also worked for many years as an Administrative Clerk for the City of Stamford before she retired. Ginny was an avid reader, writer, collector and music lover, best remembered for her generosity to many charities, her kindness to others and her strong Catholic Faith.
Ginny is survived by her two daughters; Sharon Skirpan Kardos and her lifelong partner Ron of Bridgeport, Lisa Raiteri McMahon and her husband Thomas Sr. of Stamford, a son; Russell Raiteri and his lifelong partner Steven of Stamford; her lifelong companion George Hurst and her surrogate daughter Mollie Romanello, of Stamford; as well as two grandchildren Lindsey McMahon and Thomas McMahon Jr.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford, CT on Friday February 22, 2013 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 23, 2013 at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist RC Church, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT at 10:00AM. Please help celebrate Ginny’s life by wearing any shade of purple.
