Vivian Dolores Carpenter, 91, a long time resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at Regency Heights of Stamford, on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.
She was born on February 8, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to the late James Joseph and Veronica Hill Carpenter.
Vivian was an employee of the City of Stamford for many years before her retirement. She was an avid reader, an art and opera enthusiast, a life-long animal lover, and cherished friend.
Vivian was a quiet, proud woman who faced life’s challenges with her quick wit, extraordinary sense of humor and unwavering resilience.
Vivian was a devout Roman Catholic, and an active parishioner of Saint Clement of Rome Church in Stamford.
She is survived by her three nieces, Mary Elizabeth Bowman, Marie Regina Bowman of Seattle, WA, and Jean Ryan of Ontario, Canada. Also surviving are three nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews on the west coast.
Besides her parents, Vivian was predeceased by her two sisters, Marie Veronica Carpenter Bowman and Dorothea Regina Carpenter Manniello.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Church of St. Clement of Rome, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 3620 Tilden Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. There will be no calling hours.The family wishes to thank Vivian’s caregivers at Regency Heights of Stamford and Masonicare for their compassionate care and dedication.
