Vivian (Vincenza) Falso, 96, a long time resident of Darien, passed away in her home in the presence of her loyal caregiver, Andreenne Lauture, and in the arms of her daughter, Connie Falso, on Monday, December 1, 2008. Born in New York on March 4, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Alessandro and Maria Carmen Testa DAmato.
Vivian often called �"Vivi by those who loved and cared for her, was a devoted Catholic routed in faith. Her devotion to St. Jude and all the saints was known to many. As a young woman, she participated in many of the churchs programs as well as a catechism teacher. She also sang in the church choir and was known for her Ave Maria. She leaves a legacy of faith and strength to all who knew her. She also worked in the garment district in New York and remained stylish in every way throughout her life.
In addition to her daughter, Connie, she is also survived by a daughter, Gilda Cornacchio of Milford; and a son, Dominick Falso, Jr. of NY. Vivian was honored during her life with many grandchildren, including David DiMarino, Debra Loverci, and Angela Loverci; and great grandchildren which include: Alyssa, Julia, John and Matthew Loverci. In addition, she is survived by nieces and nephews residing in NY and Colorado as well as a nephew, Carmine Testa, who resided in the same household.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dominick Falso, Sr.; her brother, Joseph DAmato; and her sister, Alice Del Giudice.
A special thanks to her caregivers, Marie Azor, Michaelle Joseph and most especially Andreenne Lauture. Their care and love brought comfort and assurance to Vivian and her family. In addition, Marilyn Brown, a kind, resourceful woman who was an angel that came in to her life and bonded in friendship that will last throughout eternity. Dr. Katsigiannis and his staff provided care and concern for not only Vivian, but the entire family. He is a doctor above doctors.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Thursday, December 4 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 5 and proceed to St. Thomas More RC Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery Mausoleum in Darien.
