William James “Bill” Woodhall, 76, of Norwalk, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009. Born in Stamford on November 30, 1932, he was the son of the late Willard T. and Josephine Seminara Woodhall.
Bill attended St. John’s Parochial School and graduated from Stamford High School. He was drafted during the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Army in Germany.
Bill’s professional career began as a printer at United Printing of Stamford. He then worked as a printing and advertising sales executive in Manhattan prior to launching two 3-Dimensional advertising businesses; The Pop-Up People and Pop-Ups Plus in Westport. Before retirement, Bill worked in sales for Structural Graphics of Essex, CT. In retirement, he worked for many years as a starter at Longshore Golf Course in Westport.
Bill was enthusiastic about life and had many passions �" first and foremost his family. He was an avid golfer throughout his life and won many club championships. He was a voracious reader and loved all types of music, dance and had a passion for the movies.
Bill is survived by his brother, Rev. Jonathan A. Woodhall, of the Diocese of Raleigh, NC; and his aunt Yolanda Seminara of Stamford. He is also survived by four beloved children, Marilyn Woodhall of Norwalk, Kathleen Apruzzese & her husband Michael of Milford, Mark Woodhall of Stamford and Geoffrey Woodhall & his wife Wendy of Los Angeles; three loving grandchildren, Michael Apruzzese, Andrew Apruzzese and Kate Woodhall; his former wife Geraldine Woodhall of Stamford; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas W. Woodhall of San Francisco.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Thursday, September 10 from 4:00 �" 7:00 PM.
A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Friday, September 11 at 9:15 AM and proceed to St. Leo’s Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
