Yolanda C. Sclafani, 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 5, 2009 at St. Camillus Health Care Center. She was the beloved wife of 65 years of the late Lucian J. Sclafani, Sr. Born on May 17, 1917 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine Valente Raffaele.
She was a bookkeeper for twenty years for the Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center of Southwestern Fairfield County. Yolanda was a founding member of St. Leo’s Parish, a member of its Rosary Society, Altar Society and one of St. Leo’s original Eucharistic Ministers.
Mrs. Sclafani is survived by her son, Lucian J. Sclafani, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Stamford; her three daughters, Frances Fogarty and her husband James of Greenwich, Linda Camardo and her husband Joseph of Merion Station, Pennsylvania, and Marie Cordeiro of Stamford; and seven grandchildren, Robert Sclafani, Peter Sclafani, Brendan Fogarty and his wife Leah, Brian Fogarty, Melanie Cordeiro, Cecilia Camardo, and Anne Cordeiro. A great-grandchild, James Terrence Fogarty, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Sclafani was also predeceased by her son-in-law, George Cordeiro; three brothers, Salvatore, Ernest, and Alfred Raffaele; two sisters, Rose Iuso and Mildred Sessa.
A procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902, at 9:10 AM on Thursday, December 10, 2009 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Leo’s Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT. Friends may visit at the Funeral Home on Wednesday December 9, 2009 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
