Joseph Lovallo
Joseph D. Lovallo, Jr. (Joe), 88, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 20, 2023. Joe was born on January 25, 1935 to the late Joseph H. Lovallo and Angelina Claps Lovallo.
Joe was the oldest of five children, raised on Spruce Street on the West side of Stamford, and graduated from Stamford High School. Joe was employed by Toll Motors (Darien) and Branfon Motors (Greenwich) in the late 50’s and early 60’s. After marrying Anna Vagnone Lovallo, his best friend and wife of 60 years, he embraced the role of a dedicated father to his children, Joe and Louise, while also being the sole proprietor of the family businesses, Grand Prix Shell, Inc. and Grand Prix Service, Inc. in Stamford, until retirement in 2000.
Joe was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, as well as a loyal and loving husband. He was adventurous, humble and had an incredible zest for life. Joe was known for his unwavering optimism, quiet confidence, endless energy, and a keen aptitude for anything mechanical. Joe cherished spending time with his family, exploring a variety of interests and activities, but was especially proud of his two darling grandchildren, Kelly and Allie. He was an accomplished do-it-yourself home improvement master, an auto sports enthusiast and an avid Alpine skier. Anna and Joe traveled the world and befriended many people along the way; they wintered in Aruba and Florida and lived happy, full lives. Anna and Joe could be found engaging in lively conversations at many local restaurants, which they loved to frequent. They also found enjoyment at the local movie theaters, and often attended Broadway shows in NYC. Joe was known for his daily walks at Cove Island Park with his soul mate, Anna by his side. Joe experienced a robust life filled with many hobbies and social gatherings with his close friends. For the past fifteen years of his life, he gracefully navigated through many years of progressive dementia until his final days.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his loving wife, Anna M. Lovallo of Stamford, and survived by his son, Joseph D. Lovallo, III (Patty) of Pittsford, NY, daughter Louise A. Lovallo (GerI) Reilly of Hull, MA, his cherished grandchildren Kelly Lovallo of Hoboken, NJ, and Allie Lovallo of Washington DC. Joe is also survived by siblings, Robert Lovallo, Anita Sansone (Donald Herde), Michael Lovallo, and James Lovallo (Barbara), and longtime caregivers, Agnes Godlewski and family.
