Virginia Kristoff

Virginia (Penny) May Pendleton-Kristoff, a long-time resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, June 4th. She was in her 96th year. She is predeceased by her husband John R (Jack) Kristoff and sister, Georgia Pendleton.

Virginia was born August 17, 1928 in New York City to John and Mildred Pendleton. She moved to Stamford at an early age.

The city could be characterized as a core part of her identity. She attended Stamford public schools graduating from Stamford High in 1946. She went on to the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing receiving a Registered Nurse degree in 1949. She worked in the Maternity Ward (Coleman II) at St Joseph’s Hospital for several years before entering the Stamford school system as a healthcare professional, which she retired from in 1991. She was an active parishioner of Trinity Lutheran Church on Seaside Ave, and over the years participated in various Stamford civic activities underscoring her affection for the city. She was also an avid book reader in her spare time and had a close association with the Ferguson Library.

The last six years she has resided at an assisted living facility, Crosby Commons in Shelton, to be close to attending family members.

She is survived by her four children, Jeffrey of Port St Lucie Florida, Pamela Grabowski of Shelton, Catherine Gruner of Stratford, John R Jr of Bridgeport, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
