Lucy Tarantino

Lucy R. Tarantino, 95, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home, on Sunday November 5, 2017. Lucy was born on May 1, 1922 in Franklin, Ma., daughter of the late Nicola and Ermina Giaggi DiBlasio.
Lucy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She adored her family and was happiest when she was with her grandchildren teaching them everything from how to color to play card games. She loved watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events no matter what weather conditions prevailed. She so enjoyed her Monday Night Bingo Games and was a devoted UCONN Girls Basketball Huskie fan. She loved her trips to the casino and enjoyed her cruise trips around the Caribbean over the years.
Lucy is survived by her two sons, Anthony Tarantino Jr., and his wife Mattia, Nicholas Tarantino and his wife Wendy, all of Darien; five cherished grandchildren Nicole, Nicholas and his wife Erica, Anthony, Michael and Cristina as well as two great grandchildren, Nicholas III and Colton. She is also survived by a sister Olivia “Eva” Gagliardi of Stamford. Besides her parents Lucy is predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Tony F. “Boots” Tarantino; her sisters, Helen Sabato and Lorraine Arcaro, and brothers Henry, Albert, Adam, and Dominick DiBlasio.
A Funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00AM and process to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 10:30AM Entombment will follow at St. Mary RC Mausoleum Greenwich, CT. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM.
